MEMADUKAN TINKERING DAN THINKERING: UPAYA UNTUK MEMUTUS MITOS TENTANG PEMBELAJARAN PRAKTEK DI SMK
Abstract
Kajian ini memaparkan mitos pembelajaran praktek di SMK yang dianggap dianggap sebagai pelengkap kegiatan belajar. Untuk memutus mitos tersebut diperlukan cara pandang baru dalam memahami pembelajaran praktek. Pembelajaran praktek yang memadukan tinkering dan thinkering diharapkan memutus mitos yang sudah berlangsung selama bertahun-tahun. Kajian ini menggunakan metode delphi, untuk merangkum hasil kajian para ahli atau peneliti terdahulu yang memiliki keahlian terkait dengan isu yang dibahas, yaitu mitos pembelajaran praktek di di SMK. Pendapat para ahli dan peneliti terdahulu selanjutnya digunakan oleh peneliti sebagai dasar membuat telaah kritis. Hasil kajian mengungkapkan bahwa pembelajaran praktek dapat mengembangkan kecakapan, keahlian, kemahiran yang akan mengantarkan lulusan sebagai calon pekerja berlevel employability. Pembelajaran praktek juga akan memperkuat berbagai soft skills yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh dunia kerja, seperti: seperti keuletan atau kegigihan dalam menjalan aktifitas, pantang menyerah, berorientasi pada hasil, proaktif, komunikatif, kemampuan bekerja dalam tim, dan dorongan untuk terus memperbaharui kecakapan dan keahlian selaras dengan tuntutan dunia kerja. Melalui pembelajaran praktek para siswa tidak hanya menghafal dan memahami konsep; tetapi ia akan dikondisikan untuk menerapkan konsep, menganalisis kegiatan praktek, sistesis dan evaluasi terhadap kegiatan yang dijalankan. Dengan demikian pembelajaran praktek akan membiasakan siswa untuk berpikir tingkat tinggi (high order thinking). Pembelajaran praktek dinilai sangat efektif untuk memperkuat spirit tinkering dan thinkering siswa, guna mempersiapkan lahirnya calon pekerja berlevel employability. Pembelajaran praktek akan dapat mengantarkan siswa sebagai calon pekerja yang tidak hanya cerdas, tetapi juga tangkas. Kajian ini merekomendasikan agar pembelajaran praktek dijadikan pendekatan pembelajaran utama di SMK, agar siswa dibiasakan untuk menjadi tinkering sekaligus thinkering sehingga ia menjilma sebagai calon pekerja berlevel employability.
